Brand repair programs
Tecovas (repairs done by NuShoe)
Brand program, run by NuShoe- Tecovas offers two routes on its boot restoration page: the Tecovas Cobbler Network (local shops; Tecovas says to contact your nearest Tecovas store, and it does not publish the list) or mail-in to NuShoe, which it calls its official restoration partner.
- Mail-in: NuShoe sends a prepaid shipping label; you pack the boots in your own box. Boots come back in new packaging. Tecovas and NuShoe both give 4 to 6 weeks after NuShoe receives the boots.
- Prices on the NuShoe Tecovas page: Full Resole $250 (original Tecovas tannery leather, lemonwood pegs, new heel base and taps, new Tecovas insoles); 3/4 Skived Resole $150; Rubber Resole $125 (the closest Vibram sole NuShoe has).
- NuShoe says it cannot repair ripped or damaged shafts, vamps or counters on Tecovas boots.
Ariat Boot Renewal (run by NuShoe)
Mail-in program, run by NuShoe- ariatbootrenewal.com is run by NuShoe (contact ariat@nushoe.com, 1-877-349-6673). Whether Ariat itself endorses it is not confirmed; we did not find it on ariat.com.
- Prices: Western boot with leather sole $115; Western boot with rubber sole $110; work boot $105; tall equestrian boot $125; paddock boot $80; tall boot zipper $90; zipper plus sole $165.
- Original Ariat parts are used depending on availability. Turnaround 3 to 6 weeks.
Lucchese Repair and Restoration
Factory program- Lucchese says its Repair and Restoration department handles work from small fixes to complete restoration, including new soles and heels for normal wear. Defects are covered by a one-year warranty with proof of purchase.
- Prices are not published. Lucchese says charges vary with the work and asks you to email returns@lucchese.com for pricing. If you bought from a Lucchese store or Lucchese.com, call 1-888-582-1883 (Mon to Fri, 9 to 5 Central); if you bought from another retailer, Lucchese says to contact that retailer first.
- Lucchese repairs boots with style numbers starting with certain letters (the list differs between its FAQ and warranty pages), printed inside the boot. Work by anyone other than Lucchese voids the warranty.
- Mail-in steps and turnaround: not confirmed. Lucchese says warranty repairs are done within 60 days of receipt.

What the prices cover
- Leather sole prices differ in what is included. NuShoe's $120 and McFarland's $350 both include new heel parts and conditioning; Tulsa's price list prices soles and heel work separately.
- Only B. Nelson includes shipping in its western price. At the others, shipping to the shop, and at some shops the return trip, is extra or not stated.
- For Tecovas boots, the NuShoe Tecovas program uses Tecovas tannery leather and Tecovas insoles. Its $250 full resole costs more than NuShoe's general Western NuCraft at $120.
